Dr. Agil Shirinov

Agil Shirinov was born on September 28, 1979 in the city of Kalbajar, Azerbaijan. In 1996, he entered the Faculty of Theology of Baku State University, and in 2001 he graduated from that faculty.

In 2003, he graduated from Marmara University in Turkey with a master’s thesis entitled “Extremist sects and views in the historical sources of Islamic sects (extreme sects and views in the historical literature of Islamic sects).” In 2003, he entered the doctoral department of the same institute, and in 2007 he defended his dissertation on “Nasreddin Tusi’s Concept of Being and God (Nasiruddin Tusi’s Existence and Divinity)” and received a doctorate in theology.

Agil Shirinov, who has many works in the field of Islam, has been the rector of the Azerbaijan Theological Institute since May 12, 2020.
